Monocryl Monofilament Suture, Violet, 27", Size 5-0 is a synthetic absorbable suture composed of poliglecaprone 25. Its monofilament structure ensures minimal tissue drag and reduces the potential for bacterial colonization, while the violet coloration provides visibility during placement. 

This suture maintains 60–70% of its original tensile strength after one week, allowing for temporary wound support during the early stages of healing. The material gradually loses its strength over time, aligning with the tissue healing process. By the second week, a significant reduction in tensile strength occurs, promoting safe resorption by the body.

Complete mass absorption of the suture occurs between 91 and 119 days, eliminating the need for suture removal. The degradation process is consistent and predictable, resulting in minimal tissue reaction. The absence of coating and its smooth monofilament surface further reduce inflammatory responses compared to multifilament sutures or natural alternatives like chromic gut.
